Radio 2 star Vernon Kay has opened up about his past ambitions to conquer America and hinted he hasn't given up on the dream. In a candid discussion on the Changes with Annie MacManus podcast, the well-known presenter, shared his reflections about previous attempts to break into the US market and his desire to have another shot at success across the pond.

During the interview Vernon, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly, was quizzed on the changes he'd like to implement in his life or the wider world. The father of two revealed: "Well, flippantly, I'd like another crack at America because I think I messed up. I did three network shows for America. I wouldn't say I messed that up. I think looking back, I was inexperienced."

Opening up further, the BBC star admitted: "I think, knowing, being more confident in myself and the way I work, I'd like another go at a game show in America. That's a big change."

However, he conceded, "I doubt it'll happen, but that's the one thing where I'm like: 'Oh, it was right there."

Having endured what he describes as 'three chances' to make it in the US - with opportunities from notable networks ABC and NBC - Vernon didn't shy away from sharing the rollercoaster journey he's experienced. "They lasted a series. If you want a laugh, go on YouTube and watch a game show I hosted called the Million Dollar Mind Game. It's basically me doing an impression of Roger Moore. 'Good evening and welcome to the Million Dollar Mind Game," reports Lancs Live.

At home in the UK, Vernon, aged 50, boasts a stellar career as a television and radio mainstay. He and his wife, Tess Daly, 55, create a formidable duo in the entertainment industry, both enjoying significant success in their respective roles.

The couple is also raising two daughters, further expanding their family-focused success story.

Vernon shared with the podcast that the entertainment industry has undergone significant changes since he began his career. He explained: "Showbusiness has definitely changed (over his 25-year career). I think we all know the economic circumstances at the moment in broadcast and print. Social media, or digital media, has had a massive impact on your traditional forms of media."

He recalled his time working on T4 holidays, saying: "For example, when we did T4 holidays we would go away for two weeks to Ibiza and we'd record six weeks of shows. We had expenses. My expenses were vodka pineapples in Pacha, Amnesia, Privilege, Cafe Mambo. Nowadays there's none of that.

"Budgets are so tight that you're there solely to work. The budget on T4 was massive. It was all paid off. It was unheard of."
