A9 in Perthshire closed in both directions after crash

The A9 in Perthshire was at a “standstill” for hours after it was closed in both directions due to a crash.

Police and ambulance crews attended a collision near Dunkeld at around 6.30pm on Friday.

One driver said the road “is at a standstill”.

The road was initially restricted but was completely shut at around 7pm.

A post on X by Traffic Scotland said: “The A9 at Birnam is now closed in both directions due to a collision.

“Traffic is slowing on approach and Police are in attendance looking to set up diversions.

“Please take care on approach.”

By 8pm, Traffic Scotland had set out a 31-mile diversion route.

The road reopened at around 10.15pm.

It is not known if anyone was injured in the crash.
