Legendary comedian and actor to make rare live appearance at Bristol's Slapstick Festival
by Ellie Kendall · BristolLiveMulti award-winning comedian and actor Harry Enfield has been announced as the latest star to join the line-up for February's 20th birthday edition of Bristol's Slapstick Festival.
In what is to be a very rare live stage appearance the star, known for his work including the hormonal teenage duo, 'Kevin and Perry' (alongside Kathy Burke), will be at the Bristol Old Vic on Sunday, February 16. The evening will see him share with fellow comic Robin Ince his favourite film and TV comedy moments, and their influence on the many memorable characters he has created.
Tickets for the event - 'Harry Enfield's Top Comedy Moments' - are on sale now via the Bristol Old Vic box office (0117 987 7871), and are priced at around £16.50 each.
Slapstick’s director, Chris Daniels, says: “This will be a very special one-of-a-kind event. Harry Enfield hardly ever makes live stage appearances and it is rarer still to hear him sharing insights into the many characters he’s woven into the nation’s consciousness, among them his astute satire of Thatcherite economics, 'Loadsamoney'; the well-meaning but hopeless 'Tim Nice-But-Dim', the hormonal teenage duo 'Kevin and Perry' (with Kathy Burke) and, with 'The Fast Show’s Paul Whitehouse, radio DJs, 'Smashie and Nicey'”.
The addition of the Harry Enfield event means that fans are waiting for just one more announcement to complete the programme for Slapstick 2025 - the host of the festival's flagship Gala. Slapstick Festival will take place from Wednesday, February 12, to Sunday, February 16 in venues close to Bristol's Harbourside.
The festival is hosting some 35 events, which include Ben Elton receiving an Aardman Slapstick Comedy Legend award, Rock Wakeman hosting a salute to his dear friend Ian Lavender and Ian's work as a cast member of 'Dad's Army', and Nigel Planer honouring his late, great, co-star - Rik Mayall. You can find the full programme of events on the official Slapstick website, or take a look at more Slapstick stories from BristolLive here.
