Ben Fogle's quiet life in countryside village with homes worth over £2.6 million

Ben Fogle, 51, is a well-known face on British television, presenting numerous wildlife-themed programmes across BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

His recent work on Channel 5 includes shows such as Ben Fogle and the Buried City, Endurance: Race to the Pole and Into the Congo with Ben Fogle.

Fogle first shot to fame after his appearance on the BBC reality show Castaway 2000, where 36 individuals were left stranded on the Scottish island of Taransay for a year.

The programme was a social experiment that tracked the progress of the men, women and children as they attempted to build a sustainable, self-sufficient community from scratch.

The son of actress Julia Foster and vet Bruce Fogle, Ben was privately educated at the Hall School in Hampstead, London and Bryanston School in Dorset.

During a gap year, he travelled to Ecuador to teach English at an orphanage before spending another gap year working on a turtle conservation project on the Mosquito Coast of Honduras and Nicaragua.

He later studied Latin American studies at the University of Portugal, followed by further studies at the University of Costa Rica. Away from the limelight, Fogle enjoys a peaceful life with his wife, Marina and their two children, Ludovic and Iona.

It's thought that the family resides near the village of Fawley, situated on the border between Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. The village is just a few miles from Henley-on-Thames, which has been previously named by The Times and The Telegraph as one of the best places to live in the English countryside.

The Countryfile presenter enjoys a picturesque rural life in a charming old flint cottage nestled in Oxfordshire with his family, dogs, and horses. Speaking to Metro in 2023, he shared: "We live in an old flint cottage in Oxfordshire. It is in a rural setting surrounded by woodland, fields and nature."

Charming wildlife is part of the allure, as he further revealed: "We have plenty of deer that like to eat our roses, moles that dig up the lawn and even a wild population of wallabies that bounce into our garden and chase the dogs, but we love it."

Fawley, the village where the star resides, boasts the stunning Fawley Court. This Neoclassical country house arises from the collaboration of two historical giants, Sir Christopher Wren, who designed it, and Capability Brown, who landscaped its grounds back in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Adding to the historic charm, Fawley also houses St Mary's Church, featuring roots dating back to the 12th century and two mausolea within its grounds, erected in 1752 and 1862.

Besides his countryside retreat, Fogle has a foot in the city with a property in West London. His five-bedroom townhouse, worth £2.7 million according to MailOnline, was once listed for a substantial monthly rent of £26,000.

With Henley-on-Thames, one of Oxfordshire's pricier towns, just a stone's throw away, real estate in Fawley does not come cheap. Property data from Rightmove indicates an average house price of £2,610,000 over the past year in this quaint village.

Over the past year, most properties sold in Fawley were detached homes, fetching an average price of £4,310,000. Semi-detached properties, on the other hand, sold for an average of £910,000.
