Okami sequel officially in development at Capcom

The Game Awards has brought another excellent piece of news with the announcement that Capcom officially has an Okami sequel in development.

If you loved playing through the Okami HD achievements, then good news: an Okami sequel is officially on the way! Here's the (very brief) teaser trailer.

Okami sequel revealed at The Game Awards

"Okami sequel project is underway," Capcom says. "Okami is a game critically acclaimed for its unique world, heartwarming story, and exciting adventures. Now, a new adventure in the same vein as Okami has been set in motion."

We heard rumours about this possibility years ago, when we learned that an Okami sequel was to be proposed to Capcom by Ikumi Nakamura. At the time, Nakamura made it clear that one provision would be that any sequel was to again be directed by Hideki Kamiya.

"It might be some time until you hear from us again, but we hope you are as excited as we are for this project," the devs add.

We have just over a minute of that beautiful teaser trailer, plus the facts that the Okami sequel has Hideki Kamiya as game director and that production is about to begin, but that's all the info currently available for the game. Nevertheless, it was an atmospheric announcement to round up The Game Awards with. What do you make of this announcement? Let us know in the comments!
