'Clever word games' don't make Ottawa's impact assessment law constitutional: Smith

by Rahim Mohamed · National PostOTTAWA — Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said Thursday she’s once again taking Ottawa to court over the revised Impact Assessment Act, saying that amendments made to the federal legislation earlier this year don’t make it constitutional.
“(The) amendments contained some clever word games but still ultimately gave the federal government control over projects that fall under Alberta’s exclusive jurisdiction,” Smith told reporters at a news conference in Edmonton.
