The holidays are coming — and that means plenty of time on the couch, browsing Netflix for something to watch, either by yourself or with the family.

In December 2024, Netflix has plenty of offerings for both. On the TV side, there’s the premiere of the new Liz Feldman (“Dead to Me”) show “No Good Deed,” which stars Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow as a couple trying to sell their family home, full of dark secrets. There’s also a new Nate Bargatze special that you can watch with the parents or kids, as well as the long-awaited second season of worldwide hit “Squid Game.”

Here’s the official description for the next installment of “Squid Game”: “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”

Top Pick: “Black Doves”

This month’s best bet on Netflix, however, is Keira Knightley’s live-action TV debut. She plays a spy alongside Ben Whishaw as an assassin. The six-episode show, hailing from Joe Barton, has already been renewed for a second season.

“‘Black Doves‘ follows Helen Webb (Knightley), a quick-witted, down-to-earth, dedicated wife and mother — and professional spy,” a press release notes. “For 10 years, she’s been passing on her politician husband’s secrets to the shadowy organization she works for: the Black Doves. When her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is assassinated, her spymaster, the enigmatic Reed (Sarah Lancashire), calls in Helen’s old friend Sam (Whishaw) to keep her safe. Together, Helen and Sam set off on a mission to investigate who killed Jason and why, leading them to uncover a vast, interconnected conspiracy linking the murky London underworld to a looming geopolitical crisis.” So, cheery fun then!
