Maya Henry, the ex-fiancée of Liam Payne, has spoken out for the first time following his tragic death. The couple started dating in 2019 and got engaged in August 2020, but they split up in May 2022.

On Thursday (November 28), Maya took to social media to acknowledge Thanksgiving, expressing her gratitude with a message to her followers alongside an image featuring a festive meal. She posted: "Happy Thanksgiving. Grateful for family, friends and God."

Liam Payne died on October 16, 2024, after he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina where he had been on holiday with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. Toxicology reports found anti-depressants and cocaine in Liam's body at the time of his fall, reports the Mirror.

Following the tragic passing of Liam, Maya has been bombarded with harsh trolling. Prior to his death, Maya had made allegations regarding Liam's conduct during their time together, sparking outrage among fans which intensified after he died.

People have been posting malicious comments under Maya’s last social media post, which was shared before Liam’s death, where she was promoting her first book, 'Looking Forward'. The novel, mirroring life in a tale about a girl who falls for a pop star, became a source of contention.

Before Liam died, Maya, a model, had sent him a cease and desist letter, accusing him of persistently trying to contact her via various iCloud accounts.

Early this week, thousands of the late singer Liam's admirers initiated a petition for a statue or mural in his memory to be placed in his hometown. They are campaigning for a lasting tribute to the singer in Wolverhampton, his place of upbringing and where his parents Karen and Geoff live.

A Change.org campaign, boasting nearly 6,000 signatures from both locals and international supporters, notes: "The recent passing of Liam Payne has touched the hearts of many, not just the unbreakable community of One Direction fans, but people worldwide. As individuals who have been profoundly impacted by the loss of this amazing talent, we ask for a permanent structure or mural to be erected in Wolverhampton in his honour."

The petition reads: "Liam Payne's artistry has reached out and touched countless lives. His music was a harmonious blend of inspiration and comfort that resonated in the hearts of millions. His life and legacy deserve to be commemorated in a way that is as enduring as the light he imparted unto the world."

It continues: "By erecting a permanent structure in Wolverhampton, we are ensuring that Liam Payne is remembered for generations to come. This memorial will not only serve as a place to pay respects, but also a reminder of the incredible impact that individuals can make on the world."

The proposal suggests that the city collaborates with local artists to "create a memorial that reflects the spirit and essence of Liam Payne - his roots, his musical journey, and his incredible contribution to the international music community".
