Monty Don has provided an update following his emergency hospital visit yesterday. The beloved BBC presenter had to undergo 'emergency treatment' and cancel a speaking engagement, but it appears he is now recovering.

On Instagram, the Gardener's World host shared a photo of his frost-covered garden with the caption: "Morning #gettingbetter."

His followers quickly took to the comments to express their well-wishes for his swift recovery. One fan commented: "That's good to hear. We have tickets for Harrogate and are hoping you will be well enough x."

Another wrote: "That's great news. I was sorry not to see you in Bath, my friend and I have been looking forward to it for over a year, but what matters is that you are being well cared for and getting back to good health again. Hopefully we'll see you next year sometime instead."

A third added: "Rest up Monty. I saw you in Brighton, it was a wonderful evening, I really hope you weren't feeling ill then.", reports the Express.

The 69 year old gardening expert had to cancel six of his upcoming talks in Exeter, Truro, Bath, and Nottingham due to an undisclosed health issue that led to his hospitalisation.

In a video message, Monty expressed his regret: "Hello. I am so sorry to have disappointed all those people who were going to come and see me in Exeter and Truro and Bath and Nottingham."

He disclosed that his health took a severe downturn on Friday afternoon, resulting in a three-day hospital stay. "I was rushed to AandE. I was kept in at the hospital over Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and had to have drips and all the rest of it," he added.

Monty recently admitted that he "hasn't got endless time left" and shared his thoughts on ageing. He took over as the main presenter of the BBC show in 2003, succeeding former Ground Force star Alan Titchmarsh.

Lately, Monty has been considering his future with Gardeners' World due to his advancing age. In a November interview with The Guardian, he said: "I haven't got endless time left. If I'm still going strong in 20 years, that will be brilliant, but 20 years ago doesn't seem so long ago", according to OK! Magazine.

Monty then revealed plans to retire from Gardeners' World "within the next five years" to focus on producing more documentaries, much to the fans' disappointment.
