ITV Loose Women rally around I'm A Celeb's Jane Moore after 'sexism' row
by Kelly Smith · NottinghamshireLiveJane Moore has garnered support from her Loose Women colleagues amid a "misogyny" and "ageism" row that thrust her into the limelight. The dispute flared up on the ITV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! when she was assigned washing up duties by new camp leaders Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan, leaving her fuming.
The 62-year-old TV star was tasked with the chore alongside fellow contestant Tulisa.
The decision proved challenging for camp leaders Danny and Barry, who had deliberated over who should take on which responsibilities in the jungle.
Danny and Barry had considered if they were giving the tougher tasks to the men but didn't expect Jane to take issue with washing up. They were wrong, and tensions rose, according to the Express.
On Monday's (November 25) episode of Loose Women, Jane's co-stars came to her defence, with Frankie Bridge telling viewers that Jane is someone who "got stuck in", which likely contributed to her annoyance.
Judi Love agreed, saying: "Jane is just like one of these people who says 'I'll do whatever needs to be done', so I think as long as she feels like that she'll be happy but you've got to understand people are hungry and tired."
Coleen offered her perspective, saying: "I think that's the main thing, the hunger, the boredom and the tiredness. I think Jane's not one to handle boredom at all because like you said she wants to be up and doing stuff."
The ex-pop star continued: "And you can see because every time they come up with who's doing the trial you can see she's the only one when she's not picked goes 'ahhh' and that's genuine."
In the jungle scenario, following Danny and Barry's announcement that two female campmates were to do the washing up, Jane protested: "Oh what? Is that because we're women?"
Barry tried to calm the waters by pointing out the reasons for choosing her for the chore, noting that at 62 she was a year younger than him, so a less taxing task might be suitable.
Nevertheless, Jane was unimpressed and lashed out: "So ageist and sexist."
Commenting on the palpable tension, former Strictly sensation Oti Mabuse remarked: "You could cut the tension with a knife."
Later in the show, Jane was seen discussing with The Voice star Danny, expressing frustration about being allocated cleaning tasks despite her earlier plea to avoid them.
Visibly irked, she said: "Those were my last words as you walked past me, 'please not cleaning', and you've given me cleaning."
She emphasized:"I'm not upset, I'm just saying it's women doing the washing up again."
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the ever-popular presenting duo, were clearly surprised by Jane's comments and did not openly agree with her views. They showed sympathy for both Barry and Danny.
Ant expressed his thoughts: "I think she is being a bit unfair by saying it's sexist and ageist. I think they were just trying to do a good job in allocating fairly, if I'm honest."
Dec shared his opinion too: "Yes, I agree. I feel for Barry, he was only trying to do his best."
Ant added: "Poor little Barry."
The hosts also found amusement in the mounting tensions within the camp, opining that a bit of friction can be entertaining. Ant noted: "I am not surprised as it's always about the chores. It's always around the leader and who they give the chores to. It's either that or the cooking."
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV.
