ITV Coronation Street exit 'sealed' as fans 'work out' who adopts Lauren's baby son
by Ben Lyons, Joe Crutchley · NottinghamshireLiveITV Coronation Street fans think they've figured out who will adopt Lauren Bolton's baby son, Frankie. The young mum, portrayed by Cait Fitton, gave birth in August after being drugged by her wicked solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) in a murder attempt.
Viewers will recall that Joel was the perpetrator behind the grooming and abuse of several girls, including Lauren, who ran away for months after he left her to die. Little Frankie survived and Joel's terrible crimes were eventually exposed.
However, his character was written out in September, sparking a significant mystery on the ITV soap. Several Weatherfield residents became suspects, including Joel's ex Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) and Carla Connor (Alison King).
But in a plot twist last week, it was revealed that Lauren was the one who delivered the final fatal blow, in an effort to stop Joel from strangling Max (Paddy Turner). Max and Lauren covered their tracks and disposed of Joel's body over a bridge into a river, making it look like a suicide.
In an unexpected development, Max turned himself into the police to ensure Lauren and baby Frankie would never be separated, falsely confessing that he was the one who killed Joel in self-defence, reports the Daily Record.
In the gripping episode of Coronation Street on Wednesday (November 20), fans were left on tenterhooks as Lauren was taken into custody following David Platt's, portrayed by Jack P Shephard, decision to hand over a letter Max penned to Lauren detailing their plot. In the emotionally charged scenes, viewers watched as Lauren pleaded not to be separated from her infant son Frankie before being escorted to the police station.
Once inside the interview room, Lauren initially maintained her false narrative but ultimately broke down and confessed to delivering the fatal strike. Police officer Kit, played by Jacob Roberts, then delivered the devastating news that Lauren could face a murder charge, leaving her facing the grim reality of potentially being parted from Frankie permanently.
Now, Corrie enthusiasts are preparing for what might be a poignant exit from the series, with fears that Lauren's admission could mean a prison sentence and an end to her storyline. On social media platform X, one fan speculated: "I think Cait Fitton might leave Corrie and Lauren gets sent down for Joel's murder."
Another viewer expressed their admiration for the actress: "Cait Fitton is such a great actress, and I'd hate to see her leave."
A third shared their thoughts saying: "If she is done for murder she will be leaving." The question of who will care for baby Frankie is also sparking debate among the show's followers.
Fans of Coronation Street have taken to a Facebook group to share their theories about Frankie's future, with one user sparking a flurry of speculation by asking: "Is Frankie being fostered/adopted."
This led to several fans predicting that David Platt and Shona, played by Julia Goulding, could become Frankie's adoptive parents. One fan commented: "Shauna will have him she wants a baby." Another fan agreed, saying: "Think Shona and David will end up with Frankie." while another user added: "I think Shona will have him."
