ITV Coronation Street's Ken Barlow to become a dad again after fans 'expose' shock pregnancy
by Joe Crutchley · NottinghamshireLiveCoronation Street viewers are speculating that soap legend Ken Barlow, portrayed by William Roache, could be set to become a father again. Earlier this year, Ken suffered a serious fall which led to the need for a carer to assist with his recovery.
Unable to afford a professional carer, the Barlow family enlisted the help of Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney), despite her lack of formal training. Over time, Ken and Cassie have formed a close bond, with Ken even confiding in her about his £50,000 premium bond win - something she had already discovered on her own.
Cassie then persuaded Ken to treat himself to a holiday, inviting herself along much to his pleasure. However, this week, Ken told his family he could no longer afford Cassie's services.
Upon hearing this, Cassie put on a brave face but was clearly furious, according to the Liverpool Echo. The situation quickly took a sinister turn.
In the episode's final scene, Cassie was seen spiking Ken's tea with crushed tablets before handing him the cup and watching him drink it. She also gave him his medication, which he took, unaware of her actions, reports Lancs Live.
Adding to the drama, in Wednesday's episode (November 20), Ken was rushed to hospital and later offered Cassie her job back, even suggesting an extra pound per hour. Now, in what could be a shocking twist, fans of the soap are theorising that Cassie and Ken may have been intimate during their holiday, resulting in Cassie being pregnant.
Fans of X are spinning theories, with one user posting: "Is Cassie pregnant? " Another joined in speculating, "She could be, she's up to no good."
Meanwhile, a third fan couldn't resist a quip, saying: "Did Ken show Cassie that he's still got it when they were in Porto? ".
Claire recently spoke about Cassie's surprise actions and her worry about how viewers might respond after Cassie tried to poison "national treasure" Ken Barlow. She remembered her initial reaction to the storyline with the words, "I was shocked, it's Ken Barlow, he's a national treasure."
The actress revealed her apprehension, sharing, "I'll be Public Enemy No 1! I think viewers will despise her. The irony is that they'd just started to warm up to her – they were finally beginning to like her and then this happens. As I play her, I'm trying to find redeeming qualities, but I'm not sure if there will be any."
Speaking as a self-proclaimed Corrie enthusiast, she admitted, "As a Corrie fan myself, I'd be furious watching this. Even back in the summer when I was on holiday in Majorca, all the elderly ladies were telling me: 'Leave Ken alone', 'Don't you dare upset Ken now.' And that was before I'd even done anything! ".
