BBC One Show's Alex Jones forced to apologise after guest brands her 'not nice'

by · NottinghamshireLive

The One Show's Alex Jones found herself in a tight spot when a guest intimated that she might be "not nice", this came after a pointed comment from the presenter. In the Friday instalment of the BBC's favourite talk programme, Alex, alongside co-presenter Roman Kemp, welcomed the actor and writer Rupert Everett, who discussed his newest compendium of short stories which are inspired by his impressive movie career.

However, things got a bit awkward when Rupert recalled his experience with a previous film project, The Next Best Thing, featuring him alongside Madonna. He admitted candidly that the film was not one of his best works, acknowledging it 'completely tanked.

' Starting with an analogy about film careers, he said, according to Wales Online: "In our careers can be like a game of snakes and ladders because you can go right up to the top but then you can quite easily go back down to the bottom."

He continued, discussing the significance of the movie for him: "That movie for me really was a zenith moment. It was a big studio picture and I was the actor who green lit it to happen and I was then employed as the writer to re-write the script and I chose all the actors but little by little I blew everything - in terms of making the movie."

Rupert went on to reveal: "I was fired from being the producer and at one point the producer said 'do you want to be in the film or now' and I said 'yes'. so it was a weird story and then the film completely tanked when it came out and so..", reports the Mirror.

As Alex concluded his point, he couldn't help but sneak in a cheeky remark, saying: "I didn't think it was too bad."

Rupert shot back in a playful tone: "Attitude darling, that is not very nice."

The room burst into laughter, prompting Roman to step in: "We need to work on that. We will work on that. Rupert, I apologise."

Alex then turned to the actor and said: "I'm sorry. You looked so disheartened by it but I thought it was fine."

She continued to tease, saying: "I'm digging."

Roman quickly moved the conversation forward, saying: "Right lets just move on. What I love about it is that all these stories have been put in your book, the American note, and the reviews have been incredible."
