Davina McCall has provided fans with a significant health update following her operation to remove a benign brain tumour. The 57 year old TV presenter, known for hosting Big Brother, underwent a six-hour procedure earlier this month to excise a 14mm growth, which was discovered during a routine scan while she was speaking at a menopause event.

Despite initially thinking she would "ace" the health check, Davina was taken aback by the diagnosis.

Now recuperating at home, Davina has been touched by the outpouring of support and affection from her followers. In a recent Instagram post, she recounted how she alarmed both her boyfriend, Michael Douglas, and her surgeon, Kevin O'Neill, as she regained consciousness after the demanding surgery.

She confessed to being 'very confused' for some time post-operation. In her message to her dedicated fan base on Instagram, Davina said: "Hi, I thought I'd do a little catch-up post, and I'm gonna out my surgeon.

"He is called Kevin O'Neill and he has been amazing. Obviously, trying to find somebody that knew about colloid cysts and stuff was quite a challenge, and Kevin is very experienced as a neurosurgeon, and he done another colloid cyst this year and he has been brilliant.", reports the Mirror.

"He got the whole thing and I know I gave him and Michael a bit of a scare straight after the op because I was so confused, but I am doing so well now. I just wanted to thank him and all the team for taking such really really good care of me thank you. And, yeah I'm gonna take you and your Mrs out for an amazing dinner Kevin," Davina added. Following this, Davina recently expressed that her late father Andrew's wife has been her "stabilising" force throughout her health struggles.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Davina expressed her gratitude towards Gaby and stepmothers in general, labelling her as "an amazing rock" and affectionately referring to her as "a big dose of vitamin G."

In a video message filmed from her bed shortly after the operation, the star said: "I'm being brilliantly looked after by Michael and my mum. I'd quickly like to say big up the step-mums. I don't really say thank you to Gaby enough. She's been an amazing rock my whole life.

"I was talking yesterday to somebody, I said I've got a massive dose of vitamin G. I think when something like this happens I just feel so grateful. I've always been grateful, I've been really lucky in my life."

She began tearing up as she continued her message. "I feel unbelievably grateful in my life right now, so thanks for everything. I'm on the mend, I'm resting, I'm sleeping loads and I feel really good. I just feel very lucky."

Following her brain surgery, Davina has bravely decided to continue recording her weekly podcast with her partner Michael. She launched her new show, Begin Again, last month and was 'adamant' that the discovery of the brain tumour would not halt the progress of the podcast.

Initially, it was suggested that the show might take a break following the surgery. However, an update on her condition was released just days after the operation.

In a conversation recorded before her surgery, Davina informed listeners that Michael would be managing her social media accounts during her recovery period. At the time, he stated that she would be "off grid" until she had fully recovered.

In a caption accompanying a video update, he said: "Hey everyone. Michael here. @davinamccall will be "off grid" for a bit while she recovers from this brain operation. She is in great shape and in very good hands."

"I'll do the odd update from her account here for anyone interested. I'm sure she'll read all the comments when she's able to so feel free to send love [heart emoji] . The support of people is amazingly powerful. Have a great day everyone. Michael xxx."
