ITV Lorraine Kelly given legal warning over Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy discussion

by · NottinghamshireLive

Lorraine Kelly has openly talked about receiving a warning from ITV's legal team concerning potential discussions on air regarding Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy. During her broadcast, Lorraine informed viewers that she was advised to steer clear of the 'Wagatha Christie' trial.

This guidance follows the news of Coleen competing in this year's 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!', amid her high-profile court case with Rebekah, as reported by the Mirror.

Coleen, aged 38, publicly claimed that Rebekah leaked information to The Sun newspaper, which led to a notorious defamation lawsuit. However, in July 2022, the High Court found Coleen's allegations to be "substantially true".

Speaking on Tuesday's segment of 'Lorraine', while discussing 'I'm A Celebrity', the host commented on the legal advice received around the term Wagatha Christie. In conversation with her colleague Rishi Davda, she mentioned: "Now this is very serious Rishi, we've had some advice from our lawyers that we can't actually say Wagatha Christie.", reports Bristol Live.

She continued with a light-hearted tone as Rishi joined in: "I don't know the going rate actually."

Suggesting an alternative, Lorraine asked: "So we'll have to call it something else, what can we call it? " to which Rishi amusingly replied: "We can abbreviate it to WC."

Rebekah Vardy, who famously lost her libel case against Coleen Rooney last year, has now trademarked the term 'Wagatha Christie'. According to The Mirror, this trademark spans a variety of sectors including apparel, soft drinks, broadcasting services, educational services, and beauty treatments.

Should anyone wish to use the term, they would require Rebekah's permission and might be liable for a fee.

When The Mirror inquired about her feelings towards the moniker and the prospect of being remembered by another title, such as Queen of the Jungle, Coleen said: "I think I'd rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool. Not from any other type of place. It's just me, as I always have been, so hopefully people just think she's that Scouser that she's always been."

Despite this, Rebekah has not shied away from expressing her opinions on Coleen's stint on the show. Following Coleen's entry into the camp, Rebekah posted an image of herself in a pink bikini, eyes shut, with the caption: "The feeling when you are living rent free in people's heads."

She punctuated her post with emojis indicating laughter and a wink.

Last month, it was decided by a judge that Rebekah must pay an extra £100,000 on top of the staggering £1.8 million already owed to Coleen as a result of the high-profile Wagatha Christie trial.
