ITV I'm A Celeb chaos as star's parachute blows off course on day one of filming

The stars of this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get me Out of Here! have landed in Australia. However, the first day of filming didn't go quite as planned.

The celebrities' initial task involved parachuting onto the beach at the renowned Aussie hotspot, Byron Bay. While some managed a smooth landing, others found it challenging. Journalist and Loose Women panellist Jane Moore had to contend with strong winds during her descent, causing her to land among tourists rather than her fellow campmates.

She eventually joined the other celebrities, looking relieved as she embraced Coleen Rooney, this year's most high-profile signing. The 38-year-old WAG, married to Wayne Rooney, is reportedly receiving a hefty £1.5 million to appear on the ITV show - the highest sum ever paid to a contestant, reports the Mirror.

Social media star and podcast GK Barry sported a white jumpsuit, reminiscent of something Kylie might wear. DJ and TV presenter Melvin Odoom was also waiting on the sand to greet Jane as she finally arrived.

Elsewhere, Tulisa looked fantastic in a Tomb Raider-style outfit for her grand entrance. The N-Dubz star and former X Factor judge channelled Lara Croft in a white crop top paired with matching cargo pants.

She was snapped dashing to board a helicopter at a swanky waterfront mansion. The campmates, divided into two groups, were then tasked with skydiving onto the beach.

Tulisa, 36, showcased her potential as a strong contender for the Bushtucker Trials, handling the challenge with apparent ease and even managing to look composed as she landed on the sand with her parachute. An onlooker remarked: "Danny and Tulisa came down perfectly but then the wind got up and Jane was pushed off course. She didn't seem to mind though and gave the thumbs up and held her arms aloft for the ITV cameras."

McFly's Danny Jones seemed less comfortable with the height, appearing slightly queasy post-jump, which could spell trouble if he's chosen for high-flying trials. Meanwhile, Oti Mabuse, seen sprinting for her skydive, has confessed to a phobia of snakes. Other celebrities joining this year's series include Coronation Street's Alan Halsall, known for his role as the endearing Tyrone Dobbs.

At 42, he claims to be fearless, but admits he's never faced a situation like being covered in snakes, saying: "I'm not scared of anything at home but if you were to put ten snakes on my head, I don't know how I would feel about that as clearly I've never been in that situation before."

Ex-champion boxer Barry McGuigan, known in the 80s as The Clones Cyclone, is also venturing into the jungle and feels confident about his chances. He commented: "I don't exactly enjoy hanging out with rats and snakes and spiders... but I don't have a phobia of any of them."

Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough is another name completing the line-up so far, with whispers suggesting there might be one or two secret campmates yet to be officially announced. Filming is set to proceed tomorrow before all ten celebrities make their way into camp over the weekend.

On Wednesday night, the Mirror revealed that a pair of celebs will become joint leaders in the camp after triumphing in an opening competition - named Snakes And Leaders - which sees the famous faces racing to the finish line after forming teams. This pairs challenge marks a significant change from the usual Walk The Plank style start atop a building on the Gold Coast.

Executive producer Olly Nash shared insights into the upcoming series: "This year we're going out for an ultra competitive series, you've got a really positive cast, everybody's really happy and up for it. All the celebrities will be pairing up into pairs, and those five pairs will go head to head in a number of challenges."

He added: "The winners will become the first leaders of camp, exempt from all chores, and live in the leaders Lodge, and they'll be running camp, setting up the way they want and the way they like for the first few days."

The camp has also had a revamp with the new Leader's Lodge. It features comfy beds sheltered from the rain, nice plush pillows and big duvets.
