Reports have emerged claiming that Liam Payne's girlfriend gave him an ultimatum in the days leading up to his tragic death, stating: "me or the drugs".

Liam later suffered a fatal fall from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, resulting in multiple traumas and an "internal and external haemorrhage". The reports suggest Kate, who had joined her partner in Argentina while he was renewing his American visa, was distressed by his drug use, which was "causing a lot of drama" in their two-year relationship.

A source disclosed told the New York Post: "His drug use was causing a lot of drama. So she gave him an ultimatum: her or the drugs. He chose the drugs, so she had no choice but to remove herself from the situation. She thought she was doing tough love."

They had initially planned a brief five-day visit to Argentina, which prolongated to two weeks, a plan Kate reportedly contended with. Taking to social media, Kate, a well-known influencer, told followers she "hated" extended stays and expressed a need to return to Florida.

The insider hinted Kate felt like being in a "hostage situation" as their holiday dragged on, commenting, "It was becoming very unhealthy for everyone. She hoped he would follow her back to Miami," reports the Mirror.

Two days after Liam's tragic passing, Kate shared a poignant tribute to her late partner on social media. The influencer expressed her deep love for her late boyfriend and confessed to feeling "at a loss".

In an Instagram post, she wrote: "Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private. Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam."

A week after Liam's passing, Kate revealed in a statement that he had planned to propose to her before the end of 2024, saying: "I don't even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can't put into words. I wish you could see the huge impact you've had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone-millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved."
