BBC Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris McCausland addresses real reason he's not doing tour
by Lillie Rohan · NottinghamshireLiveChris McCausland, the victor of Strictly Come Dancing's latest series and winner of the Glitter Ball Trophy, is so swamped with work that he will not be able to join the show's live tour. The 47 year old English comedian and actor announced his absence from the tour, explaining to fans that prior commitments must take precedence, meaning they will miss out on seeing him and his dance partner Dianne Buswell, 35, perform together once more.
Addressing a fan's query on social media platform X, McCausland expressed it was "unfortunate" he won't be partaking in the tour which runs from January 17 to February 9. "I'm afraid I will not be able to do the Strictly tour. My own tour was meant to be on the road in September and a lot of dates were moved to Jan and Feb to accommodate doing #Strictly. It's unfortunate as it's been so much fun, but my own dates can't be moved for a second time," he clarified.
Strictly Come Dancing winner, Angus McCausland, has some exciting news for his fans, despite the announcement: due to his increased popularity from the series, he has added more dates to his Yonks! tour, a stand-up comedy tour initially set for 2025 but now running through 2026. His tour will start in Winchester and finish on May 18, 2026, visiting over 200 locations across the UK and Ireland, including Birmingham, Leeds, Brighton, Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, and more; various shows are already sold out.
This immense popularity came after he and Diane won the nation's heart during their time on the show, eventually finishing with an impressive score of 116. As they followed their journey from beginning to end, becoming one of the most popular pairings on the show, they won the final, reports the Mirror.
With their victory, McCausland said: "I have learned that I am more capable than I thought I was."
In addition, he said: "It has been full of so many joyful moments."
The comedian and his professional dance partner became an internet sensation during their stint on the show, following a couple's choice routine to John Lennon's 'Instant Karma'. Social media users were captivated by a "blackout moment" in the routine that briefly depicted McCausland's experience of performing as a blind man.
The star, who has retinitis pigmentosa and gradually lost his sight throughout his 20s and 30s, was not only the first blind winner of the show but also its first blind contestant. Following his win, judge Motsi Mabuse praised: "You [Chris] are a role model for each and every one of us. "[You've shown us that] everything is possible if you fight.
You didn't only show us dancing, you gave us inspiration. " Shirley then embraced Dianne, commending her for being a "very special person". Anton Du Beke chimed in: "I think you'll change people's lives.
You're an exceptional man and you've done an exceptional thing. " Meanwhile, Craig Revel Horwood revealed that coaching Chris and Dianne for the final had "stayed with him", admitting he had penned a poem before hugging the comedian.
