I'm A Celebrity fans spot Grace 'GK' Barry breaking rules as she sends message to girlfriend

by · NottinghamshireLive

I'm A Celebrity viewers have noticed what seems to be a rule breach by one of the stars, yet it appears to have slipped past ITV bosses. Fans on social media spotted an "E" on GK Barry's fingernail, which they suspect is a nod to her girlfriend.

Contestants on the show are prohibited from any outside communication, which includes sending messages to loved ones while on camera. However, the white "E" on Grace's finger is believed to be a tribute to her partner, Ipswich Town footballer Ella Rutherford.

One observant fan tweeted: "Has anyone else noticed Grace's tiny little 'E' that she holds up to can for Ella? Subtle and smart work GK Barry! " GK Barry, a social media influencer, had kept her relationship under wraps until a birthday post for Ella on Instagram in August, where she expressed her love. On Young Filly's podcast, GK opened up about her transition from dating men to women, saying: "I feel like I went very wrong with men."

She continued, "I don't like men anymore. I will never go back to a man. God forbid. Yeah, I just love it. I just love it. I feel like I've got spring in my step. I feel like I'm glowing. It's the lesbian glow. I've got it. And yeah, that's my life update."

During Tuesday evening's episode of I'm A Celebrity, GK opened up to her campmates about her relationship with Ella. Around the campfire, Dean asked GK about her experience of coming out, reports the Mirror.

She shared: "Obviously online I'd been like I'd slept with girls or whatever as well, but I'd only dated men."

She then recounted how she met her current partner, saying: "It was by accident I found Ella, through a mutual friend and then I really liked her the first day I met her but I'd never told my parents."

She explained that her parents were already familiar with Ella's name because she had mentioned, "Oh I'm just going to see my friend Ella" or "I'm staying round Ella's."

The revelation came when her parents inquired about who Ella was during a visit, to which GK admitted: "Oh. she's my girlfriend."

She happily reported that her parents fully accepted Ella: "They just love her, they never had an issue with it."

With a hint of humour, GK remarked: "To be fair I feel like the closet may have been glass! " Emphasising her family's acceptance, she added: "They've always said whoever you end up with we do not care, boy or girl we don't care, as long as they're not a d*ck."

Jane agreed, reflecting the sentiment: "All you ever want is for your kids to be happy, it doesn't matter who it's with."

In a similar vein to GK's subtle message to Ella, previous series have seen other campmates attempting to communicate with their families while on camera. Marvin Humes, JLS singer and This Morning presenter, was often seen touching his heart with his right fist when on camera - fans interpreted this as a message of love to his wife, Rochelle Humes, and their children.

EastEnders actress Danielle Harold was spotted touching the brim of her hat during live broadcasts, while I'm a Celeb viewers speculated that social media influencer Nella Rose was sending a message by covering her mouth with her hand whenever Ant and Dec mentioned her name.
