ITV I'm A Celebrity medics called to help campmate after 'horrifying' ordeal
by Sam Cooper, Jamie Roberts · NottinghamshireLiveMedics were called into action on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here during a terrifying incident involving one of the contestants. During Tulisa's nerve-wracking Bushtucker trial on Wednesday night, medical staff had to intervene, although the incident was not shown in the broadcast.
The N-Dubz star faced her first individual challenge in the jungle, titled Shock Around The Clock, where she was inundated with bugs while being turned upside down and asked to answer general knowledge questions. At one point, Tulisa panicked, believing that one of the many insects dumped on her had entered her ear.
She shouted for the trial to halt, prompting medics to rush to her aid. "Mid-way through the trial the show medics rushed in to help. Tulisa was convinced something was in her ear - she wasn't sure if it was a cockroach, cricket or fly - and had to have a syringe wash. She carried on after that but she was horrified," an insider disclosed to The Sun.
The 36-year-old singer, who had garnered the most public votes, braced herself for the trial, concerned that her loud reactions during the 'Fright Bus' group trial had made her a target. Despite her fears, Tulisa committed to giving her all in her debut camp trial.
Presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly explained that Tulisa would be secured inside a box representing a clock hand, which would then rotate around the clock face, reports the Mirror.
Audiences were shocked as Tulisa floundered with basic general knowledge queries during her trial. Despite facing a deluge of creepy crawlies, Tulisa faltered on questions such as the names of her campmates and naming European countries.
To earn stars and meals for her mates, the songstress had to list a dozen items in a given category within one minute, all whilst spinning around with assorted bugs joining her. Throughout the ordeal, an exasperated Tulisa repeatedly encouraged the hosts by saying, "Just get it over with! " At the end of her challenging task, she succeeded in securing just five out of the possible twelve stars to bring sustenance back to camp.
Post-trial, Tulisa confessed to having gone blank, stating: "When I was in there my brain just wouldn't function, it just went blank, I was just trying to survive."
Additionally, she had to offer an apology for forgetting the names of her fellow camp participants, notably Coleen Rooney and Melvin Odoom. Meanwhile, some viewers expressed their displeasure at what they perceived to be undue assistance from presenters Ant and Dec during the challenge.
In one particular moment when the phonetic alphabet stumped her, Tulisa conceded ignorance only for Ant to hint, "When you get pulled over by the police..." This clue was further aided by Dec's prompt: "Sport... when you use clubs and a ball."
He also referred to 'November' as "This month," but his comments were not well-received by fans who took to Twitter/X to express their discontent. One viewer expressed their frustration, saying: "Why are Ant and Dec trying to help Tulisa? ! " Another displeased fan remarked: "Who's answering the questions in this trial Ant and Dec or Tulisa? ".
