Wynne Evans has opened up about the "tough days" following his departure from BBC Strictly Come Dancing, issuing a statement of resilience. The GoCompare singer has been candid with his fans since his exit from the popular dance show.

In a recent update, he shared that he's keeping himself occupied and is eager to return to BBC Radio Wales. He also admitted that he's "getting there" and noted that since leaving Strictly, his social interactions have decreased.

The 52 year old BBC Radio Wales host was the eighth celebrity to be voted off the competition after failing to win over the judges in a dance-off against Montell Douglas. After performing a Charleston routine with professional dancer Katya Jones, 35, during the results show on Sunday (November 17) at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Wynne learned of his elimination.

Three of the Strictly judges - Craig Revel-Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke - chose to save Montell. Head judge Shirley Ballas also confirmed she would have opted to keep Montell in the competition.

The pair had performed a Charleston to Carmen Suite No. 1: 5, Les Toreadors by George Bizet in Blackpool's iconic Tower Ballroom. reports Birmingham Live.

Despite their efforts, the dance pair couldn't secure their place in the competition, leading to Wynne's exit from the series. Evans commented: "What I can say was it was a joke that sadly was misinterpreted. And I think just as we have to believe people when something really has gone wrong and we have to believe people when they say it was a joke."

He further noted that the media coverage of the incident was "for days on end was pretty relentless".

When questioned if clarifying the joke could have eased some of the tension, he responded: "Maybe. Maybe not. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and it was just something that happened and that was it."

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
