This weekend saw a poignant exit from Strictly Come Dancing as EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and his professional dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas were eliminated from the competition. The pair faced off against Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe in the dance-off, with Montell and Johannes performing their Quickstep to Ella Fitzgerald's 'Get Happy', and Jamie and Michelle delivering a heartfelt Foxtrot to Ben E.

King's 'Stand By Me' once more in an attempt to remain in the contest.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood was the first to cast his vote, opting to save Montell and Johannes. Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke agreed with Craig's decision, and although her vote was not needed, Shirley Ballas also indicated she would have chosen the same pair.

As a result, Jamie and Michelle were the ones to leave the show, reports the Express.

In his parting words, Jamie expressed his deep appreciation for the experience on Strictly, saying: "Strictly is magic. That is all I can say. Strictly is magic. Not just everyone who you see in front of the camera, these four here - the judges, but everyone who works on this show."

During the effusive exchange on the competition, one contestant shared a heartfelt reflection on their experience: "I have such a good bond and relationship with and that's what made me want to do this show, it's the people, not what I'm doing. I've had the best time. I could ramble on all day about this one. She's a new pro and she's absolutely been the most amazing teacher. We have laughed like you wouldn't believe. I have nothing but the utmost respect for everyone on the show, so thank you."

His partner Michelle returned the compliments: "I just want to say it goes without saying Jamie is an amazing dancer, and he's improved so much week by week. He's worked so hard to get to where he is. It's my first year with a partner and I've realised that it's so much more than just the dancing and the technique, it's the bonds and the friendships that you make. I waited two years for a partner and I wouldn't have had it any other way," she added with heartfelt gratitude.

The Sunday results show also saw the Sugababes ratchet up the excitement with a dynamic medley featuring hits 'Overload', 'Freak Like Me', and 'Push The Button'. This musical extravaganza was complemented by a striking dance performance by the pros to Zara Larson's 'With Every Heartbeat'.
