ITV The Chase fans 'bored' after 'shameful' low offer move leaves them begging for show to be axed
by George Allen, Michelle Marshall · NottinghamshireLiveBradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants onto The Chase—Fran from London, Lynsey from Truro, Donald from Edinburgh, and Josh from Mill Hill. They joined forces hoping to outsmart a Chaser and walk away with a cash prize on Tuesday night's episode (November 26).
However, the team left empty-handed, which led to an immediate reaction from viewers who noticed a significant issue with the show's format just minutes into the ITV quiz programme. As they faced Anne Hegerty, also known as The Governess, only Fran and Lynsey managed to make it back for the final chase, accumulating a total of £7k.
Unfortunately, Donald was caught by the quizmaster, while the last contestant, Josh, made a controversial decision. In the cash builder round, he earned £5k, but in a head-to-head with Anne, he chose to play for the lower offer of minus £1k.
Viewers expressed their discontent on X, formerly Twitter, criticising the contestants for consistently choosing the lower offer and suggesting that this option should be removed from the game. Some called for the show's producers to implement changes.
One viewer vented: "FFS. It's just getting boring now. Shake the episodes up @ITV so it's not the same every day as it's getting to the stage where it's not exactly exciting to watch. Time to switch over [yawn emoji] #TheChase.", reports the Express.
Another suggested: "Make it so each player wins what they put in the pot. If you take a minus, you win nothing! ! Stop taking low offers! ! #TheChase."
A frustrated viewer took to Twitter to express their disappointment, commenting: "#thechase @ITVChase Time to cancel the show for good after this series. This consistent lower offer taking is absolutely disgusting, embarrassing and shameful and is completely destroying the show."
