Liam Payne's exes Cheryl, Danielle Peazer, and Kate Cassidy unite at his funeral
by Natalie Fahy, Katie Francis · NottinghamshireLiveThis week, the funeral of Liam Payne took place, bringing together various individuals from his life to pay tribute to the musician's tragic passing. The ceremony saw reunions among family, friends, and former One Direction bandmates, as well as three of his past partners setting aside their differences to grieve.
Cheryl, aged 41, attended the private service with Bear, her seven year old son with Liam. She was joined by Liam's latest girlfriend, 25 year old Kate Cassidy, and ex-girlfriend Danielle Peazer, 26.
Danielle, who was in a relationship with Liam from 2010 to 2013, arrived with her current partner, radio host Sonny Jay, 31. The couple, who welcomed their daughter Mia in May, were noted for their presence alongside Kate and Cheryl.
"Seeing Danielle Peazer pay her respects at Liam's funeral alongside Sonny Jay is so touching. Their history and respect for each other even after all these years is a testament to Liam's impact on everyone around him," a fan commented on Twitter. Despite ending their relationship over ten years ago, Lauren and Liam appeared to have maintained a connection.
In 2022, they were seen leaving Nobu Hotel in Shoreditch, London, together, sparking rumours of a rekindled romance. They were also spotted at celebrity hangouts Chiltern Firehouse and Annabel's around the same period, reports the Mirror.
Liam tragically passed away at just 31 years old on 16th October, after an accident where he fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following his untimely death, Danielle took to Instagram to post a heartfelt tribute, expressing her profound grief and appreciation for the support she has received.
"Over the last few days I've been trying to process the news of Liam's death. Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to call, text, or DM sending condolences and offering support. I'm so grateful and it's helped more than you know," she shared. "In time I will share more, but right now I don't feel mentally strong enough to face the reality of what's happened. Like all of us, I too am grieving, and need to take some time to do that privately. It's a heartbreaking time, which has already been made so much more challenging due to receiving negative and misinformed comments as well as pre-conceived judgement from those who don't personally know me, Liam or anything about our relationship over the last 14 years."
She ended her message with a promise to return when ready: "I will be back soon when I'm ready, but until then please take care of yourselves and each other."
Meanwhile, Kate, Liam's girlfriend since 2022, conveyed her own sorrow in a moving social media post, saying in part: "Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I've lost the best part of myself. I can't imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life."
