ITV This Morning's Cat Deeley left stunned as Dermot O'Leary reveals his real name

During Tuesday's episode of This Morning, Dermot O'Leary revealed that his real name is not Dermot. As the show began, co-host Cat Deeley asked if he had a middle name.

He responded: "My first name is Sean, Sean Dermot O'Leary." Surprised, she said: "Your first name is Sean? How did I not know that? " Dermot then explained that in Ireland, it's common to be named one thing and called another. He added that this has often led to confusion, recalling an incident at the Irish passport office where they only recognised him as Dermot.

He concluded: "So, now I'm both Dermot and Sean Dermot, which, as you can imagine, for legal reasons, is quite confusing".

Cat wasn't the only one taken aback on discovering Dermot's real name, as fans flooded Twitter with their reactions. A viewer exclaimed, "I'm sorry! Dermot O'Leary's real name is Sean! How are we only just learning this? " While another remarked with surprise, "Plot twist: Dermot O'Leary is actually named Sean."

Meanwhile, a curious tweet read, "So where did the name Dermot come from?" Dermot is currently hosting This Morning with Cat Deeley filling in while Ben Shephard is on leave, reports the Mirror.

Amid rumours of Ben joining the line-up in I'm A Celebrity, he cleared the air on ITV via videolink, saying: " I am taking a few weeks away to take some time to do a project for ITV."

He disclosed that while in New Zealand, he's shooting a thrilling new competition show that offers contestants a shot at winning £200,000.
