ITV Coronation Street's Helen Flanagan hints at soap return after six years

by · NottinghamshireLive

Helen Flanagan has dropped hints of a possible return to Coronation Street, expressing that the show represents the life she's always known. The 34 year old has been synonymous with her role as Rosie Webster on the popular ITV soap since 2000, with her recent departure occurring in 2018 when her character left for Japan.

Despite her time away from Weatherfield, the actress could be seen back on the familiar set soon.Since leaving Corrie, Helen hasn't had much luck in establishing a significant career beyond reality TV and game shows. Her endeavours include participating in 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' in 2017 and 'Celebs Go Dating' this year.

Outside of acting, Flanagan's personal life has garnered attention due to her split with footballer Scott Sinclair after a 13-year relationship and three children, reports the Mirror.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Star, whilst collaborating with WhichBingo.co.uk, Helen spoke fondly of her desire to return to Coronation Street: "I would absolutely love to go back to Coronation Street. I live now where I did growing up and I've moved around so much, you know, with my ex, football and stuff, so I'm back. But to be able to do Coronation Street, they would have to ask me back."

She elaborated: "Also if I went back and stuff, I'd want to be in a good storyline and what have you."

Reflecting on her intermittent appearances in the series, she remarked: "I went back when I was about 27 when I just had Matilda, and then I had to leave because I felt pregnant with Delilah after about 18 months. And I enjoyed it. But I think when I was younger, I always did like the big storylines, but when I look back, I was so lucky to be in that from such a young age."

When departing the show back in 2018, Helen was clear about her intentions to return to Coronation Street. She left to welcome her new baby and shared a touching photo from the set as she bid farewell to castmates and fans.

Taking to social media, Helen posted a heartfelt snapshot with Sally Dynevor, who plays her on-screen mother Sally Webster, captioned: "Love this pic we took the other day on set. Love this lady. My last month @coronationstreet before my maternity leave. Going to miss everyone so much especially my screen mum and sister @brookelevivincent."

She concluded with: "Definitely want to return as Rosie, just not sure when that will be."
