Lamppost battered in Mercedes crash that closed main Nottinghamshire road
by Joel Moore · NottinghamshireLiveA main road in Nottinghamshire has been closed in both directions after a Mercedes driver crashed into a lamppost. Police shut off Oxclose Lane in Daybrook at around 2pm on Sunday, November 24 following the collision.
Photos from the scene show the blue Mercedes, which lost its front bumper in the crash, being loaded onto a recovery truck at around 3pm. The stricken streetlight meanwhile can be seen leaning slightly in the central reservation, with its lamps clanging together.
The stretch of road, between Oxclose Police Station and Queens Bower Road, was briefly reopened before being closed again, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix. Nottingham City Transport said one of its services was being forced to divert due to the closure.
"Oxclose Lane between the Police Station and Queens Bower Road is closed in both directions because of an RTC," it wrote on X. "Purple 87 is diverting in both directions along Chippenham Road and Queens Bower Road."
Inrix stated: "Slow traffic due to earlier accident on B6004 Oxclose Lane Southbound from Queens Bower Road to Sherbrook Road. Road was closed but has now reopened to traffic."
