Alan Titchmarsh makes weather quip as he announces career move
by Olivia Wheeler · NottinghamshireLiveDuring Wednesday's BBC Breakfast, renowned gardener Alan Titchmarsh had exciting news to share about his latest project. The 75 year old gardening sensation has teamed up with the eminent composer Debbie Wiseman to create a delightful new festive album titled "Jack Frost - A Winter Story".
In his discussion on the show, Alan expressed his appreciation for BBC Weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, stating: "Carol, thank you! " He went on to express his thanks, remarking: "I'm so grateful to Carol, we're very grateful to Carol for bringing frost [weather].
"Our launch day is Friday, it comes out on Friday, the album, and that's the coldest day of the year so far... Carol, thank you! " Presenter Nina Warhurst humorously responded: "She likes to do that for all of our guests! ", as reported by the Express.
Debbie, prolific in her musical accomplishments and responsible for crafting the harmonies for the album, delved into their combined effort, explaining: "We recorded it in May", and added: "We put together Alan's story, which he sent me by email one day and just popped on my email - Jack Frost."
She continued, detailing the creative synergy, "I popped it on the piano and set it to music, it happened so naturally the way the words and music flowed together. I was able to set his lovely magical story to music, it was such a treat!"
Discussing the inspiration behind his album, Alan said: "I come from a Yorkshire childhood, when I was young, we didn't have central heating then and the ice would form on the inside of your window, you'd scratch it off, and you'd look out on a landscape very much like this one behind us, and it had all been transformed overnight, we just wanted to make a family tale for Christmas all about the magic of Jack Frost," as reported by the Express. He also took to Instagram to announce the release, sharing a snap of the album cover with the caption: "Jack Frost single out today. Album out 22nd November" complete with a smiley face.
His fans, making up a 157K-strong following, showed their support; comments included: "Excellent, can't wait! " with heart emojis, "Looking forward to hearing it", and "Good luck Alan! " Alan and Debbie's artistic partnership has past roots; in 2018 they released 'The Glorious Garden', an album based off poems penned by Alan, reports the Manchester Evening News.
