Our Yorkshire Farm's Clive Owen is 'getting older' as he makes career decision

by · NottinghamshireLive

In a particularly touching episode of Our Farm Next Door, Clive Owen opened up about the generational shift happening on his farm, telling viewers: "I am getting old."

Delving deeper, Clive offered details of the day's tasks while remarking on the fickle weather: "We are cutting grass today. Now is our time, but the weather has been very unsettled," and shared his hope for a short spell of good weather to get the work done.

The programme featured Clive's son, Miles, stepping up to assume more farm duties, marking his "first time" at the helm of grass cutting—an event that Clive described as complex due to the nature of their land. Taking in the changes with good humour, Clive noted, "It is something I have always done, and it's lovely that I am not doing it”, as he jovially mentioned his new role of supervising, with Leeds Live recounting how Clive joked about his son already growing tired of his father's corrections.

Viewers were privy to an intimate family moment as Clive advised Miles during the mowing: "Turn across; just be careful here. Down, down, watch what you're doing."

Reflecting on the passage of time and the responsibilities that come with it, Clive observed: "They're grown-up these lads, and it's good for them to take over these jobs. Miles is a young man now so, the mowing is for him," reports the Manchester Evening News.

Gazing thoughtfully towards the future and acknowledging the inevitable changes, Clive said: "The kids grow up and become men. I am getting older, and I am not as strong as I used to be so yeah, it is good that these young guys take over.

"It's time to pass on the baton and let them do more and more and that is how it is. I am here to watch over them and annoy them, and we will get there in the end."

Amanda Owen also took to social media to confirm the series conclusion but reassured fans by revealing they'll return with a new instalment in the New Year. She posted a call-to-action for viewers: "It's been a manic Monday so this is a late reminder that at 9pm you need to tune in to More4 for the last episode of Our Farm Next Door.

"If you miss it or forget then you can do the catch up thingy on All4."

Fans expressed their disappointment at the series' end, with one saying, "Really gutted as was enjoying watching this," while another added, "Ah so sad it has finished, it relaxes me so much just watching the programme."
