Prime Video May Have Found Its Lara Croft In Game Of Thrones Star Sophie Turner
Reportedly "in talks" to star in the Tomb Raider series
by Jim Norman · Nintendo LifeBack in May, Amazon announced that it was working on a live-action Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. While we are no closer to a release date at this point, it seems that the series might (might) have found its Lara Croft: Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner (thanks, Eurogamer).
That is according to a new report from Deadline, which claims that Turner is now "in negotiations" to take the leading role in the upcoming TV series after reportedly being tested for the part last month.
Turner is arguably best known for her Emmy Award-winning performance as Sansa Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones, though you might also recognise her as Jean Grey from the *ahem* interesting X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix or this year's ITV crime series, Joan.
Amazon's live-action spin on the Tomb Raider franchise (not to be confused with the animated Netflix one, 'The Legend of Lara Croft') is set to be helmed by writer and producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge. We currently have no idea when the series will air on Prime Video — it's bound to be a while yet, mind you — but it will be interesting to see how Turner stacks up against previous live-action Crofts, Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, should the talks be successful.
If this news has got you in the mood for a bit of Tomb Raider gaming action, the brilliant original trilogy is now available in remastered form on Switch, with the not-so-brilliant follow-ups scheduled for February 2025.

I can see that. Good choice.
I’ve yet to sit down and really watch GOT, but from bits and pieces I’ve seen over the years, Sophie Turner seems like a pretty solid pick for Lara Croft. It’d be great if Alicia Vikander was given another chance with the character.

Not a fan of this choice at all. Personally I would've picked Daisy Ridley to be Lara

Interesting, curious to at least see/hear more of this series although I should play the Tomb Raider games first and foremost (too bad my usual retailer here in Italy sent me by mistake a PS5 version of I–III Remastered so for now I couldn't start it even if I had the time for it - currently busy playing other games at the moment, but still)!
She looks more like Aloy from Horizon...

Yes please. I really like all the Tomb Raider live action versions. I really like the TV series Relic Hunter. I also really like Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
I can’t wait for more and Sophie Turner is an excellent choice.
She's pretty but considering how phoebe waller bridge is involved in the production, and how the western companies want to "update Lara for Modern audiences" (they don't even want her to raid tombs anymore cuz that's cultural appropriation), I fully expect this series to be ass. I'd love to be proven wrong, but don't think I will.
Personally, I can't really see her in the role, but I'll likely watch it anyway when it comes out.

Fair enough. As long as the character writing captures the essence of sassy, globetrotting, pulp-adventurer Lara, I'm fine with it.
I guess Alicia Vikander was not good enough huh
I don't have any hopes about this.
Maybe 10 years ago.
But how modern shows are written today, no thanks.
Angelina Jolie
Pass. Looking up the producers and people behind this show, it's going to be a trainwreck. I do wish the best for Sophie Turner but I think this was poor casting.
her personality is very stale....

She just isn’t buff enough at all. She’ll have to do a lot of work to fit the role.

@ottoecamn Womp womp
@nessisonett she can put on weight and muscle. Look up Linda Hamilton from the 1st Terminator movie then compare her in T2. She put on major mass. Let's give Sophie Turner a chance first to put on size
