In celebration of Atelier Ryza's fifth anniversary, Koei Tecmo has today released an optimisation update for all three games in the series. Yep, that means Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy and Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key — catchy little titles, aren't they? — all have some improvements in store.

The updates are generally a batch of small tweaks to each game, though there are a couple of standouts dotted in there too: the first game's patch finally adds an auto-save feature, while the second and third have each gained a 'Very Easy' mode in the update. Each title has also landed various fast-forward options and other small adjustments.

The full patch notes for each title were shared on the Koei Tecmo website (relevant links can be found in the above tweet), and we have gathered them all together for you to check out below.

I bought Ryza 2 but haven't played it yet so always happy to have an improved version to play 😃 I really appreciate fast-forward options in particular — I don't always use them but they're a nice option.

thigh render improvements

No mention of subtitle size increase for Ryza 3 sadly, it was unreadable in handheld mode.

Wish Koei would reprint physical copies of Ryza 2 at some point. I know VGP had some in stock a few months ago but it's been sold out for a while.

Auto-play text for Ryza 1 is a great addition. I'm currently playing through it and was shocked that feature wasn't available for such a text heavy game.

Nice to see some thighly-detailed release notes!

@FX29 Yeah I managed to snag a second hand copy just over a year ago but it goes for a pretty penny now!

Auto-advance dialogue should be in every game! Although because Ryza is Japanese-only, I don't usually listen to the entire line, I usually skip after I've read the sub

The first game never had an auto-save feature? I feel like it did? or maybe it auto-saves more often? still good new regardless I suppose.
Started the second game and the graphics sure are just 'nice' as in 'cosy' as overused as that term is, wonder what the graphics setting they added are? guess I'll boot it up and see.

Love to see it so when I finally play these - maybe even as my very first Atelier games as mentioned before - they will be even better experiences!
By the way, while it could be just a coincidence since it's coming also to other systems (and for some reason not for Ryza 3 unless it already had it) I can't help but wonder if the addition of "graphics settings" is at least partially related to Switch's successor...

@Agamembar When you check could you please tell me? As you can see from my previous comment I'm quite curious about the graphics settings, too!

@JohnnyMind
Well there was more than I was expecting
There is depth of field, Bloom, Light Shafts and also rain quality options.
Have to play around with them to see how impactful they are but some options are better than no options.

Haha, I knew I left the first game sitting in my backlog for a reason! Now that it's finally reached an acceptable level of polish, I'm definitely going to play it...eventually.

@Agamembar Pretty cool, thanks for telling me!

Been interested in the Atelier series for a while so this is a great excuse jump in for me (after EOW).

If they release an Atelier Ryza collection, I'll be desperate to have it.

I have beaten all three games multiple times but I was still hoping to nake them Steam Deck compatible

@belmont
they don't have the green checkmark, but they do have the yellow ! so they are compatible.

Which I guess depending on your definition of "compatible" they might not be if you have to go into settings to get a few things working 100%. Think it was 1 that says it defaults to M&KB so need to go into setting set for controller.

I have the first game, but...I got bored with it eventually...guess I could try again, I dunno.
