For some, the task of wrapping presents is a Herculean challenge.

Now as Christmas approaches, the dread of gift-wrapping can lead to a frantic search for a family member skilled enough to take on the task. People aspire to be the type of person who can effortlessly fashion shiny red paper into perfect bows or at least cut the paper in a straight line – but for many, it feels like an unattainable skill, leaving their present-wrapping efforts feeling subpar.

However, Chantel Mila has emerged as a saviour on TikTok, sharing "four of the best ways to wrap the trickiest gifts" – and her tips are incredibly useful. For those struggling with "awkward-shaped gifts", Chantel advises to "measure the wrapping paper around the gift" before securing it with tape.

Demonstrating with a Jellycat bunny, she first measures the paper, then removes it. Next, she suggests folding the paper in half, "fold the sides inwards and cut the corners", transforming it into something resembling a Christmas cracker.

After achieving this shape, place the gift back inside and "tie the sides with ribbon" to finish off the festive cracker look. Chantel also showed how to "wrap a round gift" flawlessly, starting by "measuring the paper halfway across the base and top" and then "cut strips" as shown in her demonstration.

Chantel's wrapping hacks are a game-changer for the festive season. For a start, she suggests wrapping paper around the gift and securing it with tape, ensuring all strips meet in the centre neatly around the circular part.

Her advice to "finish with a bow" adds an adorable touch. When tackling an irregular-shaped present, like a cap, Chantel advises to "measure paper to fit around it and tape", then "fold the base upwards".

She instructs: "Create a diamond. Fold the base and top inwards and tape. Place the present inside and seal the top". Adding a ribbon gives it that extra flair.

And for wine bottles, instead of the usual bag, she recommends to "wrap the paper around the bottle and secure", then "wrap the base, fold the top into a zig-zag, and tie a ribbon around the gift" - allowing you to fan out the top for a fancy finish.

These techniques require some effort and care but promise to make your gifts feel all the more special when they're unwrapped.
