Police have closed a major Dumfries and Galloway road due to an accident.

Part of the A75 Euroroute has been shut at Gretna after a collision on the eastbound carriageway heading towards the M74 and M6 motorways.

Police are on the scene and diversions are currently being put in place.

A Police Scotland Facebook post read: "A75 closed at Gretna, due to a collision on the eastbound Dual carriageway.

"Please have patience and follow instructions of officers on scene whilst diversions are put in place."
