A royal expert has suggested that the Royal Family may be apprehensive about what Sarah Ferguson "knows" about the Firm, following rumours that Prince Andrew might be penning a tell-all memoir. Despite their divorce in 1996, the Duke and Duchess of York continue to reside together at the Grade II-listed Royal Lodge near Windsor Castle.

Even though King Charles III allegedly stopped Prince Andrew's £1million annual allowance previously provided by Queen Elizabeth II, the prince remains at the property. Since January 2022, Andrew has been absent from duties after his mother decided to strip him of his royal and military titles amid a civil case brought against him by Virginia Giuffre.

There is growing speculation that he could potentially write an explosive autobiography similar to Prince Harry's 'Spare'. Given that Andrew has been an adult member of the Royal Family for much longer than Harry, his book could potentially be more damaging.

He was also known as the Queen's favourite son and maintained a close relationship with her for decades. However, royal biographer Andrew Lownie, who is currently writing a biography on the Duke of York, expressed doubts about such a development to Mail Online.

He said: "There have long been rumours that Andrew might write a book, and various collaborators have been suggested, but I think it is very unlikely. Andrew is loyal to the institution and knows it would impact his daughters and their position within the Royal Family."

The author claimed it was Sarah Ferguson who could most spark panic amongst royals. He added: "Yes he knows a lot but I doubt he would ever talk. He's told them all to Fergie and she's the real threat which is why the family are keen to keep her on side."

Sarah Ferguson, mother to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, has previously opened up about her strong relationship with the late Queen, whom she fondly referred to as "more mother than mother-in-law" and her "greatest mentor".

In an intimate 2007 Harper's Bazaar interview, Fergie recounted a poignant exchange with Queen Elizabeth II post-divorce, where the Queen inquired about her wishes. Fergie's reply was simple: "Friendship, not money."

She reminisced: "When I met with Her Majesty about it, she asked, 'What do you require, Sarah? ' and I said, 'Your friendship,' which I think amazed her because everyone said I would demand a big settlement."

"But I wanted to be able to say, 'Her Majesty is my friend' - not fight her nor have lawyers saying, 'Look, she is greedy.' I left my marriage knowing I'd have to work."
