Popular folk favourites The Sorries will be live in concert in Castle Douglas on Saturday.

The pair, Douglas Kay and Martin Philip will perform at Castle Douglas Parish Church on Queen Street as part of a short tour in support of their latest album, I Will Work.

Inspired by a love of The Corries, the duo will perform a range of traditional songs from the Scottish songbook. Although many of the songs they perform are hundreds of years old, the pair’s arrangements and harmonies make the tunes sound as fresh and vibrant as ever.

Their 18 year career has seen the duo travel the UK and beyond, gracing venues as diverse as the Isle of Eigg Community Hall, the Thomas Paine Chapel in East Sussex, Hampden Park and Moscow’s САМАЙН (Samhain) Festival, which the pair headlined in 2019. The lads’ annual shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe have established them as firm Fringe favourites, garnering them five star reviews and sell-out crowds, and helping to build a loyal fan base which stretches from Clapham to California and from the Western Isles to Western Australia.

Douglas Kay, said: “We can’t wait to get back down to Castle Douglas, the crowd at the charity event we played in April gave us a tremendous reception. The only downside on that occasion was that we couldn’t play for longer, so being able to give people 90 minutes of Scottish folk favourites on Saturday will be a real treat. We love to get people singing, clapping and stamping along so we’re looking forward to warming everyone up on a cold winter night.”

Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm priced £10 (plus booking fee) are available from https://eventbrite.co.uk or by calling Ann Brown on 07756 401 493.
