Dumfries and Galloway train services set to return to normal

ScotRail is bringing back its full timetable after its schedule was slashed in July due to a pay dispute with unions

Train services in Dumfries and Galloway are set to return to normal.

ScotRail is bringing back its full timetable after the schedule was slashed in July due to a pay dispute with unions.

However, that dispute has been resolved, with the regular timetable starting again on Monday.

ScotRail service delivery director, Mark Ilderton, said: “We are delighted to confirm that our full timetable will return on Monday.

“We have been working round the clock to deliver this in a very short space of time because we know how important a full service is to our customers. It’s been a difficult few months for our customers and staff, and we thank everybody for their patience.

“With a pay deal agreed and the full timetable back in place, everyone at ScotRail is focused on delivering a safe, reliable, and green service for our customers.”

The temporary timetable was introduced as the dispute meant fewer drivers were available to work on rest days and overtime.

As a result, the final Glasgow to Dumfries train left at 7.13pm, rather than 10.14pm. And the last train from Carlisle to Dumfries left at 9.11pm rather than 11.10pm.
