Back in 1965 Kelowna resident Frank Coons found a meteorite in Dawson Creek, and now nearly 60 years later, a Montreal-based film company is working on a documentary about his discovery.

Intuitive Pictures Productions is currently filming The Amazing Tale of the Peace River Meteorite, with plans to air it on the CBC in the spring of 2025.

After discovering the nearly 3,900-pound meteorite nearly 60 years ago, Coons bought a 1949 bus to tour it up and down Highway 97, with stops in Prince George, Langley, Kelowna and even some American states.

The meteorite was on display in Kelowna at the Elk Lodge in 1966, with Coons charging 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children to get a look at it.

Intuitive Pictures will be coming to Kelowna from Oct. 21 to 23 and they're looking for any locals who might remember visiting the meteorite while it was in town, at 3009 Pandosy Street during the month of July 1966.
