Hwy 1 reopens after crash

The collision between a semi truck and pickup truck that closed the Trans-Canada Highway near Chase has been cleared and traffic is flowing in both directions.
The crash happened at about 11 a.m. on Thursday, causing the highway to close for a few hours.
DriveBC said Thursday afternoon that the incident near Jade Mountain east of Chase was cleared and the highway was back open.
A representative from BC Emergency Health Services earlier confirmed two people had been injured in the collision and were taken to hospital by ambulance.

BC Emergency Health Services says two patients were taken to hospital after a collision between a semi truck and a pickup truck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Chase Thursday morning.
A representative from BC EHS confirmed they received a call about the incident just after 11 a.m. and two ambulances were dispatched.
"Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to two patients who were transported by ground ambulance to hospital," BC EHS said. "An air ambulance was initially paged but was not needed to respond to this incident."
Highway 1 is still blocked in both directions about two kilometres east of Chase near Jade Mountain.
Motorists can expect lengthy delays in the area. DriveBC has suggested using Highway 97 as a possible detour route.
DriveBC is expected to provide an update about the highway closure later Thursday afternoon.

Motorists are warned to expect delays in the area. DriveBC has suggested using Highway 97 as a detour route.
Emergency crews are on scene and working to clear the highway.
DriveBC is expected to provide an update about the highway closure at about 2 p.m.
