Vernon poet Michelle Poirier Brown is having work published on BC transit buses.

The author of You Might Be Sorry You Read This, is one of 10 poets to be featured in the Poetry in Transit program.

Now celebrating its 28th year, the community-engagement project, made possible through a partnership with TransLink and BC Transit, is an opportunity to showcase BC’s regional poets. Each year, the Association of Book Publishers of BC invite submissions of B.C.-authored poems from Canadian publishers and select 10 local poets to be featured in the campaign.

A collection of bus cards featuring the poetry selections are produced and placed on transit vehicles across the province for riders to discover on their daily commutes. Each bus card now features the cover art of the book in which the selected poem was first published.

People are invited to share their sightings of the 2024-25 Poetry in Transit bus cards throughout and BC using the #PoetryInTransit hashtag on social media channels, @readlocalbc on Instagram, X, and Facebook.

Founded in 1974, the Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia (Books BC) represents 26 B.C.-owned companies. Books BC supports the aspirations and activities of its membership through cultural, economic, and political initiatives and engages book-related communities in British Columbia, Canada, and beyond.
