Volunteer organizers for KamCon are optimistic they will see a large turnout for the tabletop gaming convention being held this weekend.

KamCon kicks off at Thompson Rivers University’s Campus Activity Centre on Friday evening, and panel discussions, live shows, games and a marketplace will continue over Saturday and Sunday.

In a news release, co-founder Tyler Carpentier said pre-sales for the 2024 event have exceeded previous years, with the convention steadily growing since it was founded in in 2018.

“We’re so impressed with the response from the community,” Carpentier said. “Our goal was to help build and bring the gaming community together. It’s a dream come true to see that happening.”

Organizers said this year’s convention features some “heavyweights” in the industry, including writers Seth Skorkowsky and Jon Hook, who won an Ennie award — a tabletop roleplaying game award — for their Call of Cthulhu-related podcast Modern Mythos.

Special guests also include actor and artist Toren Atkinson, publisher Douglas Lloyd and Kamloops radio personality Jeremy Androsoff.

The event also includes D&D improv show, a cosplay contest, tabletop roleplaying and trading card games, and more than 40 vendor stalls.

Weekend passes are $45, and single day passes are $30 with tickets available for purchase online or at the door.
