The Next James Bond Actor Will Have To Agree To at Least "a Decade's Worth of Films"

The hunt is on for a new James Bond and we have no idea who will be the next actor to take on the role. There have been a lot of rumors and speculation, but nothing is set in stone.

During a recent interview with The Independent, longtime franchise producerBarbara Broccoliand her brother, Michael G. Wilson, talked about the future of James Bond and the type of actor they are looking for.

Broccoli explained "It's a big decision," and whoever does sign up to play 007 will have to meet certain conditions. She explained:

"It will be a man. He'll likely be in his 30s. Whiteness is not a given. And whoever says yes is doing so with the expectation of at least a decade's worth of films."

The fact that they are looking for an actor in their 30s rules some of the fan-favorite picks like Idris Elba (Luther) and Tom Hardy (Venom). It also rules out the idea of a woman playing Bond. But Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train, Kick-Ass) could still be an option.

The biggest thing is whoever does sign up will have to commit to at least ten years which is a long time, but it’s something that’s asked of most actors who sign on to play Bond.

Wilson went on to add: "Every time we cast a new actor, the films change. It's the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction. Every one of these people who took on the role offered something new and different."

Broccoli went on to talk about her late father's view of the franchise, saying: "He always said films were like the circus coming to town. You set up your tent, everybody comes and you create magic. It's all about pleasing the audience, making sure that people get their bang for their buck."

I imagine it will be a while before a new Bond is cast, but It’ll be interesting to see who they do end up choosing. While we wait, are their any up and coming actors you think would make a good choice?
