Is WICKED's Jonathan Bailey in The Running for Batman in DC Studios THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantAccording to fans, Wicked actor Jonathan Bailey could be in the running to take on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in DC Studios upcoming film Brave and the Bold.
A lot of fans are convinced that Bailey could be a contender based on a recent social media like by James Gunn. A fan shared a post about how Gunn should find a place for Bailey in the DCU and wondered why the actor is not a more popular fancast for Batman.
Gunn liked the post, so obviously fans think that the actor must be up for the role of Batman in the film! Now, he is someone that should be considered. The actor is 36 and stands at 5'11", so he could be a good fit for Batman. The British actor will also star in next year's Jurassic World Rebirth.
The Brave and the Bold project is still in early development and they are nowhere near casting an actor to play Batman.
Gunn previously talked about his approach to casting Batman, saying: "There’s no set timeline for anything. The one thing that I’ve tried to make clear to people from the beginning, in the way that I hope we're different, is that everything in DC is going to be based on the writers.
“Until we have a screenplay that I’m totally happy with, that movie is not going to get made, no matter what it is."
"So, we have been really fortunate with some screenplays. You know, Supergirl came in and just, wow Ana [Nogueria] did such an amazing job, the Lanterns pilot came in, and now the whole 'Lanterns' series came in, and it's like 'Wow that's wonderful, wonderful work.' And there's a couple of other things that people don't know about, a couple of movies and TV shows that are greenlit or near greenlit."
He added: "But it's going to be based always on that, on the story, because at the end of the day if we're happy with the story that we're telling, that's what matters most. And once The Brave and the Bold gets to that point, then we'll make the movie."
Andy Muschietti is set to direct, which will introduce the new DCU version of Batman. The project is inspired by Grant Morrison's popular Batman comics run, and it will focus on Bruce Wayne's relationship with his biological son, Damian Wayne. Batman: The Brave and the Bold is said to be one of Gunn and Safran’s favorite projects.
