Coronation Street fans 'work out' Ken Barlow's secret love child - and it's a cobbles villain
by Joe Crutchley · PlymouthLiveCoronation Street's Ken Barlow, according to fans, has a secret offspring - and they believe they know exactly who it is.
The iconic character, portrayed by William Roache, has been a constant presence on the cobbles since 1960. As the longest-serving actor on the show, William has been part of numerous major storylines in Weatherfield.
From affairs to notorious romances, Ken's tenure in Weatherfield has been anything but dull. Currently, he is oblivious to the fact that his carer, Cassie Plummer (played by Claire Sweeney), is drugging him.
Earlier this year, Ken had a severe fall which necessitated the need for a carer due to his injuries. The expense of a professional carer was too much for the Barlow family, leading them to hire Cassie despite her lack of formal qualifications.
Ken and Cassie quickly became close friends, with Ken developing a fondness for her. However, when Ken informed her that he could no longer afford her services, Cassie resorted to drastic measures, reports Lancs Live. Cassie ended up lacing Ken's tea with crushed tablets, resulting in him being rushed to hospital. Thankfully, he has made a quick recovery.
Over the years, Ken has also had his fair share of romantic relationships. Having been married four times to three different women and fathering four children, he is no stranger to love. Now, fans are speculating that Ken has a secret child - and they are already on the cobbles. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, viewers shared their theories about Ken's potential illegitimate offspring.
Speculation is brewing amongst viewers over the potential hidden offspring of Ken, with one person positing on a forum, "Has anyone ever wondered if Ken could have more children we don't know about? We know what he's like and the soap could easily retcon and bring in someone?"
Die-hard fans were quick to descend into the comments section to offer their takes. One fan sketched out their theory: "Given his past, I would say so. It would make sense if Kit was one of them as well."
Another chimed in with support for the storyline: "This is a good idea! We still don't know much about him. A lot of us think he's not even Bernie's son." Yet another viewer pondered, "Is Kit a mini Ken? " Amplifying this series of musings, another added, "Anything can happen in soap land."
Kit, portrayed by Jacob Roberts, arrived on the street earlier this year, introduced as Bernie Winter's (played by Jane Hazlegrove) long-lost child. However, his odd behaviour has raised suspicions among many fans who are now questioning his 'true' identity.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
