Coronation Street Dee-Dee's real baby father 'revealed' in shock twist - and it's not Joel

Coronation Street fans are speculating that Joel Deering may not be the real father of Dee-Dee Bailey's baby.

The villainous solicitor Joel (played by Calum Lill) met his end in September, with viewers only finding out who was responsible for his death last week. In a surprising flashback episode, it was unveiled that Lauren Bolton (portrayed by Cait Fitton) was his killer.

Viewers will remember that Joel manipulated and exploited Lauren over several months, even impregnating the young girl. He then attempted to murder both her and their unborn child, before his heinous acts were finally brought to light.

Joel's character was subsequently written out, triggering a major mystery plotline on the ITV soap. However, in the episode aired on Friday (November 15), it was confirmed that Lauren was the one who dealt the lethal blow.

Alongside Max (Paddy Turner), Lauren concealed their actions and disposed of Joel in a manner that suggested suicide, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Nevertheless, Max later turned himself in to protect Lauren, confessing that he killed Joel in self-defence. The episode also hinted at the possibility of Dee-Dee being pregnant. During a confrontation with Joel, he mentioned the time they had been intimate - despite Dee-Dee's firm commitment to abstaining from sex until after marriage.

At that point, Dee-Dee was seeking solace following a visit to her friend Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) - who subsequently passed away after battling Motor Neurone Disease (MND). In the Monday episode (November 18) of the drama, Dee-Dee was left reeling after a pregnancy test confirmed she was expecting. She confided in Sarah Platt (played by Tina O'Brien), expressing concern that she would always see Joel in their child.

However, fans are now speculating that there's a major plot twist on the horizonthey suspect Joel may not be the father. The buzz amongst viewers, particularly after discussions on a Corrie fan page, suggests the baby could actually be the child of Joel's potential twin.

This theory has been circulating among the audience for some time, but has gained traction with Dee-Dee's latest revelation. On social media, one viewer speculated: "Oh no Dee-Dee, pregnant with Joel's baby! " However, it wasn't long before others chimed in with an even more dramatic possibility.

One soap enthusiast pondered: "What if Joel didn't sleep with Dee-Dee and it was actually his identical twin? That twin is now dead, while the real Joel is still alive..." Another joined the conversation saying: "Now this would be some twist." Eagerly boosting the theory further, an additional fan exclaimed: "I can see this happening! I've said it all along Joel is not dead!"
