Coronation Street's Lauren 'set for exit' as fans 'work out' who adopts baby Frankie
by Joe Crutchley · PlymouthLiveCoronation Street viewers reckon they know who is going to adopt Lauren Bolton’s baby Frankie.
The youngster (Cait Fitton) gave birth to the tot back in August, after father and sicko solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) drugged Lauren, in a bid to kill them both. As fans will recall, Joel was responsible for grooming and abusing young girls - including Lauren, who went on the run for months after he left her for dead.
Fortunately, Lauren’s baby Frankie survived and Joel’s crimes were eventually exposed. But he ended up getting killed off in September, sparking a major whodunnit on the ITV soap. Several Weatherfield residents became suspects, including Joel’s ex Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) and Carla Connor (Alison King).
But last week, it was revealed that it was Lauren who was the one who delivered the final fatal blow, in a bid to stop Joel from strangling Max (Paddy Turner). Max and Lauren covered their tracks and threw Joel over the edge of a bridge and into a river, to make it look like suicide.
However, Max went on to hand himself in to make sure Lauren and baby Frankie would never be apart, lying and admitting to the police that he was the one that killed Joel in self-defence.
During Wednesday’s episode (November 20) though, Lauren was arrested after David Platt (Jack P Shephard) handed a letter to the police that Max wrote to Lauren, detailing the plan. In emotional scenes, Lauren tearfully pleaded not to be taken away from her baby son Frankie before being sent to the police station.
In the interview room, Lauren stuck to the false narrative - before confessing all: that she was the one who struck the fatal blow. Police officer Kit (Jacob Roberts) then revealed that Lauren was highly likely to be charged with murder - leaving her devastated that she may be permanently separated from Frankie.
Now, fans fear that due to Lauren confession, it could mean an exit is on the cards, as the character would be sent to prison. On X, one person said: “I think Cait Fitton might leave Corrie and Lauren gets sent down for Joel’s murder.”
A second wrote: “Cait Fitton is such a great actress, and I'd hate to see her leave.” A third penned: “If she is done for murder she will be leaving.” What’s more, other viewers reckon they know who will adopt and look after baby Frankie.
On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person mused: “Is Frankie being fostered/adopted.” And viewers were quick to share their thoughts that Shona (Julia Goulding) and David Platt could adopt the baby. Someone wrote: “Shauna will have him she wants a baby.” A third penned: “Think Shona and David will end up with Frankie.” A fourth said: “I think Shona will have him.”
