I'm A Celeb's 'Wagatha Christie' moment as Coleen Rooney shakes head at co-star

by · PlymouthLive

Coleen Rooney has already been called "Wagatha Christie" to her face by one of her I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Here! campmates.

During Sunday's (November 17) debut episode of the 2024 series of the gruelling ITV show, Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough couldn't help but refer to her now infamous nickname.

Fans will know that Wayne Rooney's wife is known as Wagatha Christie because of her detective work in the style of Agatha Christie during a despute with fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy.

She conducted a sting operation back in 2019 to find out who had been leaking stories from her private Instagram account to the press.

After an iconic skydive entry, Dean landed safely on the ground and was forced to team up with either Coleen or fellow Radio 1 DJ Melvin Odoom.

Explaining his decision, Dean said: "Melvin, I'm so so sorry! Wagatha Christie you're coming with me!"

Coleen was seen giggling as she ran off with Dean to make it onto the next stage of the race as they jumped into a 4x4 vehicle.

Viewers at home rushed to their keyboards to discuss the "hilarious" moment. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: "Coleen is never living that down as long as she lives. Arguably more famous than Wayne at this point." Another added: "A Wagatha Christie reference this early in the show was not what I expected."

Someone else said: "Dean labelling Coleen "Wagatha Christie" when picking her to pair up with him how awkward but iconic." A fourth said: "No way Dean called Coleen "Wagatha Christie" to her face."

McFly singer Danny Jones is currently favourite to win this year's series, according to online bookmaker Betway with Coronation Street's Alan Halsall and Saving Grace podcast host GK Barry also at the top of the list.

Mike Reading, spokesperson at Betway, said: "I'm A Celebrity is renowned for gathering a mix of reality stars, soap actors, athletes, and big personalities, and this year's line-up appears to follow suit.

"McFly seem to have the magic touch when it comes to reality TV, with bassist Dougie Poynter taking home the jungle crown in 2011, and drummer Harry Judd snagging the Strictly Come Dancing Glitterball Trophy the same year.

Despite not being officially confirmed, Love Island star Maura Higgins is also a chance at being crowned Quee of the Jungle as speculation mounts that her and Reverend Richard Coles will be late arrivals.

Mike added: "Both GK Barry and Maura Higgins are known for their humour and outspoken opinions, and with Maura dating Pete Wicks - could he be celebrating the win of someone else close to him, after best pal Sam Thompson was crowned King of the Jungle last year?"
