Coronation Street's beloved Platt member 'to die in shock house fire' - and fans are heartbroken
by Joe Crutchley · PlymouthLiveA beloved Platt member on Coronation Street could be getting killed off in a fire stunt, fans have predicted.
Next year, the cobbles will be rocked by the shock events of a house fire. Real-life residents around the soap set were warned recently about a fire stunt that is currently being filmed.
They were told to expect loud explosions as well as fire effects - but not to panic. What’s more, the notice informed that the show would also be recreating a house fire and that an explosion would be triggered.
A source also told the Metro: “The early part of the year is going to kick off the new era of Corrie with a bang pretty literally and one of the show’s core families are right at the heart of the fire storyline.
“With a new boss at the helm, the show isn’t pulling any punches and it’s fair to say some fan-favourite lives are on the line.”
What’s more, this week, snaps obtained by The Sun show how the drama unfolds, as a fire rips through the Platt residence, No.8. It’s not known for certain though if Sally and Tim Metcalfe’s (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) house next door is affected too.
Several cast members have also shared a number of behind-the-scenes photos this week during the night shoots. Bethany Platt star Lucy Fallon uploaded a snap with co-stars Paddy Bever, who plays Max Turner, and Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt. The stars were trying to keep warm in dry robes.
Meanwhile, Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster, also shared a photo from the set. She uploaded a photo of heat patches and body warmers and wrote “Night shoots”.
Now, fans are convinced that they know who is going to die in the house fire - and it’s heartbreaking. Over on a Corrie Facebook fan page, reacting to news of the house fire, one person said: “Yet another fire if my street was so dangerous I'd move fast!”
Someone else chimed in and mused: “I think someone will be killed off.” A third penned: “Could be Shona,” as a fourth person wrote: “Nobody would see it coming…”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
