Coronation Street Lisa Swain's wife's killer 'revealed' - and they are a cobbles resident

Coronation Street viewers believe they have figured out who was responsible for the death of DS Lisa Swain's wife, Becky, and they suspect it's a familiar face from the well-known street.

The police officer, portrayed by Vicky Myers, first appeared on the soap in 2021, with her daughter Betsy, played by Sydney Martin, making her debut earlier this year. Little is known about Lisa's history, other than that her wife and fellow officer, Becky, died while on duty, causing tension in her relationship with Betsy.

Recently, DS Swain and Betsy have been at the centre of the ITV soap's storyline involving Joel Deering (Calum Lill). The corrupt solicitor, known for his history of abusing and grooming young girls, was killed in September after his crimes were finally brought to light.

DS Swain was investigating the case as her daughter Betsy was one of the solicitor's targets before he disappeared and was subsequently murdered. Several residents of Weatherfield became suspects, including Lisa.

However, last week it was revealed that Joel's killer was Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), a victim of his abuse and grooming who he impregnated, and who is now mother to Frankie.

Furthermore, due to Joel's threats towards Lisa's daughter Betsy, she was removed from the case and has recently been taking a break from her police duties. But in the episode aired on November 20, she was informed that she could return to work the following week, reports the Liverpool Echo.

However, her mood took a drastic turn when Betsy reminded her that it was Becky's birthday, which Lisa had clearly forgotten. Overcome with guilt, Lisa headed to the Rovers Return to drown her sorrows.

In a stunning plot twist, fans now believe they have uncovered the truth about Becky's death, speculating that Lisa was responsible. Taking to a Coronation Street fan page on Facebook, viewers shared their theories.

One fan suggested: "What if she's been a secret alcoholic all along and she killed Becky? " Others agreed, with one commenting: "100% can see this." A third fan added: " I'm thinking the same, she drinks because she's responsible for Becky's murder." A fourth echoed this sentiment, saying: "Swain to have a drinking problem?"
