Workshop on theatre songs inaugurated in Shivamogga

A three-day workshop on learning theatre songs was inaugurated at the hostel of Sahyadri Commerce and Management College of Kuvempu University in Shivamogga on Thursday.

The workshop has been organised by the college in association with Kadekoppa Trust and Sahyadri Kala Tanda, a theatre group. K. Lakshminarayana, president of Kadekoppa Trust, inaugurated the workshop with a theatre song.

Jagadeesh R., a graduate from the National School of Drama and a resource person for the workshop, said theatre songs were the soul of a theatre production and their presentation takes productions on the stage to a new height. He stressed on the need for people interested in theatre activities to develop an interest in presenting theatre songs and also understanding their importance.

Prof. T. Avinash, principal of the college, who presided over the programme, stated that the college was conducting the event to inculcate interest in theatre songs among the students. He hoped that the students made use of the programme.

Prof. Prakash Marganahalli, Dr. Lava. G.R., convener of the workshop, were present.
