‘Youth must look up to freedom fighters for inspiration’

All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) organised Yuvajanara Sankalpa Samavesha, a youth convention in Belagavi on Thursday.

Ramanjanappa Aldalli, Dharwad public awareness campaign advisor, expressed regret that some youth were following wrong role models like film stars, politicians, and sportspersons.

“Youth are under attack from toxic influences. They need proper role models. They need to look up to the freedom fighters for guidance. They need to be influenced by the lives of revolutionaries who fought against injustice,” he said.

Tanveer Nakodi, resource person, spoke on modern day stress faced by the youth. He said some of the reasons behind it were capitalist greed, insensitivity to the suffering of fellow human beings, addiction to social media and adult content on media and internet platforms, and lack of responsibility towards society. He asked them to adopt healthy habits like exercise, reading, and discussions, and to pick up hobbies like art and theatre.
